after a mechanical detasseler has gone through the field.

A worker walks along a row of corn designated as a female row pulling the top commonly
referred to as tassel and throwing it on the ground. The worker is responsible for that
row from the beginning of the row to the end of the row.

Here is a video showing a mechanical detasseler. They usually go through the field
before the crew does and pull up to 90% of the tassels.
